We only opt to work with exceptional leaders and men of character and we purposely assign each of our coaches, always a former collegiate or professional baseball player, in a way that best serves the collective development of our organization and players.

GARRY WOOD / President

Garry is the co-founder of Fury Baseball and has been an integral part of the development and administrative strategy concerning the program’s brand since its inception. He holds a bachelors in kinesiology from CSULB which certainly helped him lead what was a high caliber collegiate program at Cerritos College. Garry is a retired school teacher who continues to substitute troubled youth in AHUSD.

DAVE OCHOA / High School

Dave had led Villa Park High School’s baseball program to an Orange County record, 25 consecutive victories in a single season, culminating in a CIF championship. You may recognize some of the players “Och” as he is regularly called has coached, including, now Yankees Manager, Aaron Boone, Todd Blyleven, Dave Leper, Matt Boone, Mark Trumbo, and many more.  

ANTHONY SLAMA / 14u & 13u

After playing at Mater Dei High School, Anthony played two years of college baseball at Santa Ana College before transferring to UCSD where he played in 2006. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2006 and decided to sign with them after completing his senior year in 2007. While in the minors, Slama earned the MiLB’s “Best Class A Reliever” award before making his major league debut for the Twins in 2010 against Cleveland.  


Ryan is the co-founder of Fury Baseball and has been instrumental in developing the program’s brand strategy. While he was expected to sign a professional contract out of Santa Ana College, he abruptly threw his arm out towards the end of the season. As the multiple surgeries he needed were extremely risky, he decided to forgo playing at the next level to work with Dave Ochoa at Villa Park High School. In fact, the JV team that Ryan managed, went on to win CIF the following year.


Jerry is the coach of our 11u Fury Baseball and has played an role in developing our lower division teams,  concentrating on our Futures – 11u programs. He holds a bachelors in business from Pepperdine where he pitched for two years before entering the professional draft.  Today, he lives in Yorba Linda with his wife McKenzie and his two young children, Bryce and Lily.


Andrew was inspired by the work of the founder and reached out to the club initially asking to be simply a batting practice coach. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his playing days at CSUF as a catcher and utility player. By day, Andrew is a software engineer in Irvine and by afternoon, he is our batting practice coach and manager of our 10u team.
